Insurance & Payment Methods:

At Johnson Chiropractic & Holistic Health Center, Dr. Johnson offers a variety of payment options for our patients.  We accept most health insurance providers for chiropractic care. We also work with many patients who have no insurance coverage, or who choose not to submit to insurance. As of 2013, we also offer prepay discounts and student rates (please inquire within).  Regardless of the amount of coverage you have, we will help you find the most cost effective method available to purchase the care you need. 

Please take note that each insurance provider offers different plans.  Though we may be in-network with your insurance provider, your insurance plan may not have chiropractic benefits.  You may get information regarding your chiropractic benefits by contacting your insurance customer service and asking for both in-network and out-of-network chiropractic benefits.

**Please note, we do not accept any insurance for functional medicine or for acupuncture servicesWe are in-network for chiropractic services only. Even if an insurance plan states that they will pay for acupuncture or functional medicine, please understand that we will not submit insurance for acupuncture or functional medicine services and the amount for care will be due in full at the time of your visit.  Upon request, we will provide you with an itemized receipt if you'd like to submit on your own.  By doing this we do not guarantee that you will be reimbursed and cannot be held responsible as such. Additionally, if asked by the insurance company to provide more information we cannot due to the fact that we are not in-network for these services.  Our policy supersedes any insurance company policy in this regard. Thank you for your understanding in this matter :) 

Accepted Insurance Providers (Chiropractic Care ONLY)

We are In-Network (Preferred Providers) with the following insurance providers:

  • Aetna / Coventry / GHP / Plumber's & Pipefitter's

  • University of Missouri Health Care (MU plan)

  • Mizzou Custom Network

  • Anthem / Blue Cross Blue Shield (excluding Market Place Plans)

  • United Health Care (excluding UHC Community Health Plan)

  • HealthLink Network

  • Cigna (including the Cigna marketplace plan)
  • UMR / United Health Care (state plan)

  • Medicare*

* Medicare will only pay for 80% of chiropractic spinal adjustments in the treatment of acute injuries or acute flare-ups of chronic injuries.  Other services such as your new patient examination and intake, acupuncture, physiotherapy, functional medicine, or maintenance care must be paid for out-of-pocket by the patient.

Non-Accepted Insurance Providers

We are OUT OF-Network (NON - Preferred Providers) with the following common insurance providers. Whether or not your insurance is listed please give us a call and we can go over out-of-pocket / self pay  pricing options for you:

  • Medicaid (aka Missouri Health Net or Health Care USA) - we are NOT contracted with this program and do not accept this plan
  • TriCare* (aka Military Health Insurance) does not cover chiropractic services
  • Humana
  •  Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield's Market Place Plan Specifically

Auto and Workers Compensation

As of July 2019, we no longer will accept third party liability claims.  If you are in an auto accident or have a workers comp claim and present in our office for care you may pay out of pocket or use your health insurance plan and you will be given an itemized receipt if you need to submit this to your carrier of choice. From this date forward, we will not accept any new claims

Affordable Care Act - Market Place Plans

We are in-network for Cigna's marketplace plans, we are out-of-network for Blue Cross / Anthem's marketplace plan

No Insurance / Self Pay

Patients who don't have insurance or choose not to submit to insurance find our care to be an affordable part of their health plan.  On routine office visits, many patients find that the cost of their treatment is less than many insurance co-pays! Dr. Johnson can give you an idea of your cost after the initial consultation.  Schedule a Free Initial Phone Consultation*** to find out what your financial responsibility may be.

***The Free-Initial-Consultation is a one-on-one discussion of your problem over the phone (not in office), and does not include examination, treatment, or other services. If after your consultation you agree to treatment, you are responsible for the cost of services rendered if and when you schedule your first visit.

Also, as mentioned previously, our clinic offers prepay wellness plans for chiropractic care and acupuncture, which is an even more affordable way to purchase the care you need!

(Sorry, Medicare patients are not eligible for prepay plans as determined by federal law. Pre-pay plans cannot be combined with any insurance.)

Payment Policy: Payment is due in full at the time of service.  Fees are not negotiable. Non-payment will result in collection proceedings and credit reporting.  Our clinic assumes no financial liability if a health insurance plan or other paying entity fails to pay completely for care rendered.
